"Some of these questions surround why an alleged terrorist suspect as being held in a category B prison. "At Wandsworth Prison we know there have been multiple failings, issues around staff shortages, overcrowding and reports of an alleged out of date security system. "There are also questions about how this happened in the first place, particularly whether this escape was a symptom of a broken prison system," said our news correspondent Ashna Hurynag. The 21-year-old was not arrested until just before 11am. The force has been blasted over the time it took to respond, particularly after reports some residents called 999 saying they had seen him in the early hours. While Daniel Khalife is now back behind bars, criticism of the Metropolitan Police's response is just beginning.
